Being Jealous of Other Women is Completely Unnecessary and This is Why

Jealousy is a powerful force and we need God’s word to help us overcome it. Jealousy is an emotion, you may feel jealous when you want what someone else has. This could bring out your competitiveness, but it can also lead to other emotions such as hatred, anger or sadness.  For example this can affect your attitude and behaviour and also reactions toward others. Jealousy can cause you to avoid being around other women. Hurtful things can be said when dealing with this emotion, which can even lead to gossiping, lying and ultimately hurting others. “For jealousy is a husband’s fury; Therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.” (Proverbs 6:34, NKJV)

1 Corinthians 7_34 (1)

There are a lot of female relationships and bonds we can see in Scripture. They are important reminders that female conflict is not the norm. God can use the love and encouragement and passion of female friendships to do mighty things in the Kingdom of God, however, the enemy can just easily pervert women to wreak havoc. Most of the time we easily tend to compare ourselves to each other and this is where the jealousy and hatred can fall in easily.

For example the scripture of Genesis 30 explains that Rachel and Leah were sisters and both married to Jacob. They were both struggling with real life issues, Rachel was dealing with infertility and Leah with a loveless marriage. Instead of them to support each other during the most difficult times in their marriage, they opposed one another. They competed for the attention of Jacob and became further entrenched in their own selfishness. Even as siblings or best friends the devil will try and do everything possible for us to turn against each other.

In this day and age most of us women struggle with supporting one another when it comes to difficult times in our lives. Instead of being a listening ear to one another we just don’t seem to care about each other’s struggles. Philippians 2:3-4 (NKJV) explains the following to us: “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interest, but also for the interests of others.”

Envy and jealousy are becoming more and more in Christianity. This all starts with comparing life stages with each other and competing in everything that we do. Ever had that feeling of wishing you could be in your fellow women’s shoes?  By saying this you actually don’t mean any harm, but this is how the devil can interfere and it easily turns into jealousy and envy. There is a saying that comparison is the thief of joy. As women we like to compare our lifestyles, careers, fashion sense, looks, and even life partners. But don’t you know that each one of us has been wonderfully and fearfully made in God’s eyes? “I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvellous are Your works and that my soul know very well.” (Psalm 139:14, NKJV)

Beautiful Purpose Wife don’t you know how beautiful you are? God did not make any mistakes when He created you to be on this earth! “Then the word of the Lord came to me saying; before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:4-5, NKJV)

Just know that God’s timing is the best, and when you see or hear your fellow women succeeding, just take the time and pray for them, thank God for the blessings in their life and just know that in God’s own perfect timing your miracle and blessings are on their way. While waiting for God’s, timing never forget to pray and thank Him for all He has done and for all He is about to do in your life. You are a living testimony, favoured and anointed by God! “While I live I will praise the Lord; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.” (Psalm 146:2, NKJV)

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (Matthew 6:33-34, NKJV)

  1. Good post…. I’ve learn the best way to not be happy in life is to be jealous of someone else and focusing on what they have and not appreciating what you do have already. Also, instead of being jealous it’s best to try and find out what that person does on a consistent basis that has helped them to obtain what they have.
