Society pressure can make Christian women forget who they are. But the moment you realize who you are in a Christ, these forces will never be able to influence your identity and your being. There is a particular scripture that always stands out to me which can be found in 1 John 4:4, which says: “I have the Greater one living in me; greater is he who is in me than he who is in the world“.
God is the greater one and He has made it a point to dwell inside of us. Therefore, you can never faint nor grow weary. You are a strong woman who God has made in His own likeness, there is nothing or no one who can shape or change your identity the way Christ can. Have you noticed that whenever an individual that has been down and comes to Christ, they live up again? It is as if they’ve found their breath of life back. This is because the Greater One has made it a solid point to transform them into Himself and make their body, soul and mind a place of His dwelling.
The Throne Room of Grace
In Church we can all “act” like we know who we are, because we are associated with other believers which makes it easier for us to “pretend” like we know who we are in Christ. But as an individual you won’t be in church 24/7, you will encounter society. When that happens, do you still have the strong stance that was declared in 1 John 4:4? I’ve come to a point in my own life where society has little influence on me. Why? Because I have made a deliberate choice to know who I am in Christ. In this world, pressure will make you try to re-identify yourself as an individual. But have you made a conscious decision to stand before the Throne Room of Grace every day and declare your stand? In Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV) it says: “let us therefore come boldly to the throne of Grace“. A woman that comes to the Throne Room of Grace with boldness and confidence knows who she is in the Lord. No one can swerve her to the left nor to the right because she has made a conscious decision.
God’s Promises
To know who you are in Christ means to form your world with the words in your mouth. As Christians, I believe we take our prayer, fasting and reading of the Word for granted sometimes. Whilst these are the exact things that are supposed to make you grow spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally. God’s promises have been laid out in His Book. It even says in Matthew 11:12 that “the violent take it by force”. God’s promises are available to those who run after it. However, in order for you to run after the word and take your promises by force, you need to know who you are. You are wonderfully and fearfully made. God promises that He will never leave you nor forsake you. These promises are available to you. But how can you reach these promises without going to the source first? Your quiet time and devotional time should never be taken for granted!
We have all been in that situation where we are either confused or torn between society and our faith. As a little girl you may have been around people who were not solid in Christ, however, because you chose Christ, you were able to find your core being in Him. God has made you with a purpose and he has graced you with more than you could ever imagine (Ephesians 2:10). You are the Lord’s workmanship, He knew how He wanted you to look like before you were even created. You being his workmanship means that He carefully sat down and imagined how He wanted you to look like. He then modeled you into who He wanted you to be and made some finishing touches. You need to know that you are special in society. There is no other person that can handle situations the way you do, or act the way you act. God has given you certain skills and talents in order for you to sharpen them, and they were given to you by Him in accordance to His plan for you.
You are a special kind of individual and God has Graced you with a particular Grace for you to be yourself. As Christ lives in you when you are yourself, you are being Christ. Stay grounded and stay focused on the cross and the Lord himself will change your circumstances.
God bless,
